stitches and craft
Friday, March 14, 08 · 3 Comments
So these are my post interview adventures. I’m working back thats how my mind works (when it does work).
Right, so the lovely drewzel and I were roped in to represent sublime stitching at the living creatively bit of the stitches and craft show. We were expected at one point to sit on the stage and give a little talk and demonstration about it but luckily we look clueless enough that we persuaded them to let us sit at the side and stitch. Our feminine charms were not enough to allow us into the magical picnic area where the lovely bunnies were but we were happy enough on the side.
As with all craft shows the target audience of most of the stalls where erm how could I say a bit mature. no scratch that it was granny-tastic!! We had lots of interest in what we were doing but the mere mention of the Internet had many people run and hide. I don’t know what I’d do without the t’interweb but I guess its another thing you get used to and can’t imagine life another way! So we gave out a few postcards, nattered about mothers lost craft supplies and looked at the most amazing birds of Australia cross stitch ( another on of those things that are brilliant but I know I just couldn’t be bothered!). had a lovely natter with the lovely nikkishell, she was fantastic on the stage talking about mixtape. Being a brownie has introduced me to some of the MOST interesting and inspirational crafty birds.
By this point we’d had enough so wandered round the show looking at the stalls and dreaming. I was very good and took cards rather than buy a load of fabric I have no clue what to do with. Then came back to speak to some lovely girls (ladies, chicks, women, birds) who are leading the revolution in craft! (we’ll doing things that aren’t obviously crafty when you wear or display them). I’m glad I have a job because if i brought half of what I wanted I would be a very poor lady.

Television in Australia is very annoying. Right got that out of the way don’t get annoyed but its true. While the schedules are chocka with reality TV, gems like Stage Door are show at the crack of dawn.
This story is based around a woman boarding house for actresses and has a huge ensemble cast. not only is the flawless Katharine Hepburn in it but also Ginger Rodgers and Lucille Ball. The story concerns the women’s hunt for a job/man but is much deeper than that lame description conveys. I absolutely love Katherine Hepburn. I know fashionistas would have you believe that other Hepburn is the fashion one but to me she was always a bit of a drip. Katharine on the other hand could handle herself. May favourite film of her has to be Bringing up Baby where with Cary Grant (another fav old Archiebald Leach) they look glamorous and sophisticated while being very funny. One thing these two great actors have in common is the slightly odd accent like nothing you would hear today. This is another thing on my list of to dos- get an odd accent, I am currently dreaming of having a very affected English accent from the 30s, an air-hair-lair.
The costumes for this are gorgeous. Long sweeping trousers, beautifully detailed day dresses, evening gowns to kill for. Everyone looks amazing and I would kill for any of it. The accessories are also fabulous with berets, cap, capes, and bags that would make me a very happy woman if they were to be mine., now if only I could invent a time machine….
Oh Just found the most fantastic pictures of Katharine. If anyone knows where I can get those fantastic clothes from please post. I particularly like the high waisted trousers and the aviator look. Would it be too much to go around in a leather flying helmet??

OK, so its been a while and I’ve only just started. Well its all been happening.
I’ll start with the weekend.
Went to Chapel Street, Parahan/Windsor end. I have no cash so it was a lesson in window shopping. Luckily the fashion at the moment is totally uninspiring, if I see another tunic I may go mad. Not so good for my cash flow is the fantastic Chapel St bazaar. This is a markety type of place that has all kind of fantastic vintage things and some less fantastic things. Its not huge but its crammed with stuff. I could spend hours looking a buttons, jewellery and household stuff. I also realised that I had saved money as I saw the same bag I brought in the salvos a few weeks ago at three times the price!!
Then came back to St Kilda and got something to eat. Had lovely tapas at a lovely place called Lolas. Decided as well as all the other things I should be doing with my life I should be cooking/eating more Spanish food.

Hello world!
Tuesday, February 26, 08 · 2 Comments

Hello and Welcome to My blog! What it will contain is unknown, the adventures I will have on my Quest, probably not very exciting. I’ll start as I mean to go on by wittering on about myself and what I get up to.
Last night I met some lovely ladies at my first evening of Brownies. I am not seven year old girl but a much older crafty one. The brownies is a lovely crafty group started by the lovely lasses at meet me at mikes. Basically its a way of unleashing the crafty from there sewing rooms so we can all sit around and eat biscuits and natter. Today I have mostly been wasting time on the interweb and applying for jobs.
I’m off now to start the roast, yum-yum!
